The Shooting Star Award is given to a volunteer who has been with the organization for several years. This volunteer can always be counted on and consistently goes beyond the expectations.
The recipient of this award has volunteered at camp for many years and has been an important part of the camp family. They are true staple in the cabins with our campers and always arrives with a car full of trinkets to make camp experience one, like no other.
This volunteer has been someone who volunteers at almost all of our programs throughout the year, offers up their free time at a lot of special events. This person is willing to sell pull tickets at the super bingo, cheer on the runners at the Santa Run and even sail around Lake Champlain for a fundraiser aboard the Spirit of Ethan Allen. His constant smile, pure love and willingness to always help has made this individual very deserving of this award. To us, their dedication has truly made camp a better place and has made our programs that much better! We can’t always say this person is timely nor can we say he is the best deep sea fisher, BUT what we can say is that he is a nurse and he drives a Mercedes.

Congratulations Jim Noyes – Recipient of the Shining Star Award!
Shining Star Award honors a volunteer who has dedicated many years to the organization. This person has made our organization a part of his or her life. The recipient typically embodies the spirit of Camp Ta-Kum-Ta by working innumerable hours in many different capacities.
The recipient of this award is someone who has gone above and beyond for Camp Ta-Kum-Ta over the years. When we thought about this award and someone who has dedicated so much to Camp Ta-Kum-Ta and truly made Camp Ta-Kum-Ta a part of their life, I am not sure we hesitated for even a second.
This individual has not only given a large part of their life to camp, but they have brought their family to camp as well. Their dedication is year-round. I think it is SO important to take a moment to recognize this individual and say thank you, especially because this person is the one person who is always saying thank you to us!
As Camp Ta-Kum-Ta continues to grow we realize that we depend more and more on our volunteers throughout the year. It did not long take long for it become apparent that this individual has been doing a full time job for Camp Ta-Kum-Ta, as a volunteer for 25+. When we think about the things this person does- sits our on board of directors, oversees ALL of our volunteers and the application process, volunteers at events throughout the year and even works hard to be the top fundraiser at the Santa Run every year so he can win that $1,000 gift certificate to the jewelry store for his wife, we are beyond thankful for his dedication to Camp Ta-Kum-Ta.

The recipient of this award is someone who has gone above and beyond for Camp Ta-Kum-Ta over the years. When we thought about this awardand someone who has dedicated so much to Camp Ta-Kum-Ta and truly made Camp Ta-Kum-Ta a part of their life, I am not sure we hesitated for even a second.

I think I could say 31 years and stop there. That within itself is quite impressive and the fact that someone has given that much of their time to ONE organization is remarkable. The capacities this person has served throughout the years as a volunteer, a board member, program director, event volunteer, organizer of our annual Halloween event, AND the list goes on! It is our volunteers who make Camp Ta-Kum-Ta such a special place and together I think we owe this individual, in particular, the recognition of being a person who really brings the magic to camp.
